EWE NETZ GmbH was founded in 2006 with its headquarters in Oldenburg and is a company of the EWE Group. EWE NETZ is an indirect subsidiary of EWE AG. In addition, 123 towns and municipalities from the Ems-Weser-Elbe region hold a 4.1 percent stake.

The company operates ultra-modern and efficient grids that are among the safest in Europe. These include an electricity grid and a natural gas grid in the Ems-Weser-Elbe region and additional natural gas grids in Brandenburg, North West Pomerania and on the island of Rügen. EWE NETZ also owns these grids. Its tasks include operational management, maintenance and expansion of the network infrastructure as well as network sales. EWE NETZ also operates drinking water networks and an extensive communications network for controlling and monitoring the energy networks. The infrastructure is characterized by high technical quality, security of supply and economically efficient operation. A dense network of regional locations ensures that the employees are always close to the customers.
