Brussels approves 1.6 billion in funding for hydrogen projects in Lower Saxony

On 15 February, the EU Commission granted state aid approval for the national funding of six large-scale hydrogen projects in Lower Saxony as part of the so-called "IPCEI Hydrogen" (Important Project of Common European Interest). This means that the Lower Saxony projects "Clean Hydrogen Coastline", "HyPerLink", "Green Octopus Mitteldeutschland", "Lingen Green Hydrogen", "GET H2" and "AquaDuctus" can now be approved by the federal government. The federal and state governments are planning joint funding totalling around 1.6 billion euros, with the state contributing around 480 million euros from the economic development fund.
