OLEC dialog "Klartext! Climate law in Lower Saxony - Lower Saxony, how do you have it with the climate balance?" on 29.06.2021

The Lower Saxony Climate Act has been in force for six months. This law sets targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting and building up carbon reservoirs and adapting to the consequences of climate change, and creates the necessary implementation instruments. Climate protection has also been incorporated into the Lower Saxony state constitution.

We would like to take this as an opportunity to put the series "OLEC dialog Klartext!" This year, we are focusing entirely on climate protection in Lower Saxony. Together with experts from business, science, administration, politics and civil society, we will take a closer look at the law and its priorities and derive recommendations for action for business, local authorities and civil society.

The law gives all Lower Saxony residents the chance to do more to protect the climate - but it also imposes new obligations on municipalities and companies. Above all, municipalities must systematically address their consumption and submit regular climate assessments, including catalogs of measures for improvement. We discuss what this means for municipalities in concrete terms and what they need to pay attention to with our experts:

  • Ruth Drügemöller, Climate Protection and Energy Agency of Lower Saxony (KEAN)
  • Dr. Enke Franck, Lower Saxony Ministry for the Environment, Energy, Building and Climate Protection
  • Cord Hoppenbrock, Referat Strategische Planung, Landkreis Osnabrück
  • Monika Noormann, Managing Director NettCon Energy GmbH, Member of the OLEC Board of Directors
  • Christoph Runden, Climate Protection Manager for Energy and Building Management, City of Emden

The event will be moderated by Dr. Alexandra Pehlken, Steinbeis Transfer Center Resource.
